Where Life Begins!

A lifetime dream to be able to create a safe haven for farm animals who have for such a long time been the forgotten ones. Who would ever think that Lynn lamb would be our inspiration to take on such a huge venture and establishment of Freedom Hill.

Lynn was one of a twin born on a cold winter night on the 1st July 2011 on a sheep farm in the Adelaide Hills. Lynn had been rejected by his mum and found the following day, weak, extremely cold and not a lot of hope held for his survival. Luckily Lynn found his way to our home
As time went on and Lynn grew stronger and stronger we had the privilege to see a beautiful character emerge from this sentient being.

Someone who not only had the will to live but the effortless energy to show us his love and to be loved as all animals should be. Our property at that time was only a 10 acre allotment in the hills and with a driving force like Lynn I found I couldn’t sit back any longer so we sold all we had and purchased 48 acres of beautiful land just out of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills.

Since Lynn we have added more rescues and will continue to build our family and carry on the dream. Freedom Hill Sanctuary was founded by Kym Henley and with the support and help of my husband Richard we hope you will enjoy Freedom Hill as much as us!
Freedom Hill will be a place for people to come and visit, share their love and become more aware of the plight of farmed animals, and in return a guarantee of being licked, smooched and loved so much from all our fur babies.

Our aim at Freedom Hill is to not only provide a safe haven for rescued animals but also to promote, educate and encourage compassionate cruelty-free living. OUR STORY

Freedom Hill Sanctuary is a small non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a loving home to neglected & unwanted farm animals.
We are located in South Australia, in the Adelaide Hills, with 48 acres of picturesque hills country. Freedom Hill is the first sanctuary for farm animals in South Australia.

Our mission at Freedom Hill Sanctuary is to provide a safe haven for animals that have been rescued from abuse, exploitation or neglect. We also aim to change the way people view farmed animals and promote, educate and encourage compassionate cruelty-free living.
Life begins at Freedom Hill for all our rescues and each and everyone will always have a safe, happy and forever home.

We are not open to the public but our future plan is to open Freedom Hill for weekend visits for families and later school visits.

At Freedom Hill Sanctuary we are dedicated to caring for neglected and unwanted farm animals. This means we need the help of amazing selfless volunteers who are imperative to keeping our sanctuary running smoothly and our residents feeling loved.

Farm Stay

Have you ever dreamt of being able to sleep over on a farm animal sanctuary and wake up surrounded by rescued farm animals?

We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to make that dream come true! Our new sanctuary is located an hour outside Adelaide, north of the Fleurieu wine district and Lake Alexandrina.

Join us for a weekend getaway from the city where you can rest and recharge in the comfort of your own caravan. Permanently parked by a newly created fairy garden and a view to blue skies and happy sheep, cows, horses, pigs, goats, deer and feathered friends, your caravan is equipped with everything you need to relax and take in the tranquil bliss of country life.

To help you unwind from the minute that you arrive, we can organise to have a meal for two prepared and waiting in your fridge. All you need do is heat the oven and sit back with your complimentary bottle of Freedom Hill Sanctuary wine.

Your stay can include helping out with the morning feeds or just stroll along and watch the excitement of feed time with the animals. Spend a lazy day on a picnic rug by the horses, cuddle the kindy kids and read them a story or give a welcome back scratch to Holly pig.

There is always something to be done such as tree planting and if you are keen, bring your gloves and rubber boots. Experience a mesmerising evening with breathtaking views of the star-studded Milky Way.

Your caravan is ready for a cosy getaway with home comforts such as a toaster, kettle, coffee plunger, tea, coffee, sugar and in the fridge soy milk, orange juice, bread, dairy free spread, vegemite and jam for a light breakfast.

There is a shower and toilet block a short walk from the caravan. All bedding and towels are supplied, simply drive in and instantly feel at home.

All food and drinks that you bring into the sanctuary for your stay must be vegan out of respect to the animal residents. Additional meals supplied by us can be arranged with notice. Please talk to us about options.
