Farm Animal Sanctuary in Minnesota

Spring Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and one of the first farm animal sanctuaries in Minnesota.  We are committed to ending farm animal cruelty and promoting vegan living through our rescue, rehabilitation and education efforts.

We provide a home for abused and neglected farm animals.  We seek to educate the local community to raise awareness of the horrible conditions animals face in factory farming, as well as the dangerous effects factory farming has on our health and the environment.  Through our events and visiting days, we encourage the community to connect with our animals and realize how sensitive, emotional and caring they are. We also work with local and state governmental organizations and agencies to advocate for laws and policies that prevent animal suffering and promote the fair and compassionate treatment of animals.

Please sign up for our email newsletter to stay up-to-date on our progress. A more compassionate world begins with you!

Spring Farm Sanctuary was founded in 2016, by Robin Johnson. A lifelong vegetarian and now vegan, Robin has dedicated much of her life to advocate and care for animals and animal rights. Robin founded Save Minnesota Moose, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on protecting the moose population in MN. She is an active volunteer at Underdog Rescue and Animal Folks and is a former board member of Pause for Paws.

Compassionate Living

Part of living a more compassionate life is living a in a way that doesn’t contribute to animal cruelty.

We love our pets and we find it easy to care about animals that live in our houses because we can see their individual personalities. Most people have no personal connection to the animals they eat, so most people are unaware how cruelly those animals are treated.

At Spring Farm Sanctuary we believe that all creatures should be treated with kindness. We rescue farmed animals and give them care and sanctuary and we invite people to tour the farm to connect with animals to learn firsthand about compassionate living. We advocate on behalf of animals everywhere and partner with other animal advocacy organizations to champion animal rights issues and promote a way of living that encourages people to embrace veganism and reject cruelty in all forms.

Take a Tour of Spring Farm Sanctuary!

Our educational tours are limited to 15 people, and all visitors must bring and wear masks throughout the entire tour duration, if not fully vaccinated. We are not a petting zoo and do not go in with the animals. Our tours are geared to older children 12 years and up.

On our tours, you will learn about the animals that call Spring Farm Sanctuary their home. You will also hear stories about similar animals living on agricultural farms. Please note that some of these stories are graphic. Our purpose is to open hearts and minds, and encourage you to keep meat off your plates.

Tour tickets are $15 per person. Tours can be paid for online by choosing a tour date/time and purchasing tickets.

Sponsor an Animal

Animal sponsorships are an affordable way to support the well-being of our animals every month by helping us cover the costs of our animals’ food, shelter, and daily care. Animal sponsorships also make great gifts! Give the gift of compassion to a loved one while helping a rescued farm animal live the rest of their life in peace and happiness.

Why are animal sponsorships important? When you sponsor an animal, you’re directly helping us cover the costs of our animals’ food, shelter, and daily care. We appreciate that not everyone can volunteer, tour the farm, or attend all of our events. Contributing towards these essential costs is a affordable way to support Spring Farm Sanctuary and the well-being of our animals every month.

Sponsoring an animal will also create a personal connection between you and your sponsored animal and and by becoming a sponsor of one of our animals you are illustrating your kindness and compassion toward farmed animals everywhere.

Animal sponsorships also make great gifts! Give the gift of compassion to a loved one, a gift that truly keeps on giving and allows a farm animal in need to live their life in peace and happiness. You have the option of sending your chosen recipient a personalized message! A gift animal sponsorship is the perfect way to tell the animal lover in your life that you appreciate them and their dedication to compassionate living.
