Holistic Psychotherapy

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on taking this step towards greater health and well-being.

Since 2005, I have assisted thousands of individuals on their journey of healing and growth (see my CV). I specialize in phone/video-based sessions for greater ease and convenience.

My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a trusting therapeutic relationship and is informed by a holistic perspective, eastern and western psychology, polyvagal theory, neuroplasticity, positive psychology, mindfulness and mind-body medicine. To learn more about my background and approach, please go here.

I provide psychotherapy services to adults (at least 18 years old) and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington D.C. and Maryland. That means I can see psychotherapy clients who live in those states. If you do not but are still interested in my services, you might consider my coaching offerings. Please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss further.

DETAILS ABOUT YOUR SESSION

Coaching

As your coach, I provide support, accountability, education, and skills-training on your journey to optimal health and well-being. The coaching process is present and future oriented. As opposed to psychotherapy, coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health disorders. It assumes a basic level of healthy functioning from which to grow.

While I provide both psychotherapy and coaching services (as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach), it is important to understand that these are distinct offerings. To learn more about the differences between psychotherapy and coaching and to determine which may be a better fit for you, please contact me for a free phone consult. You may also read more about some of those differences here.

The areas of coaching that I specialize in:

Health & Wellness Coaching:

  • Assess your current state of health and wellness in key domains
  • Clarify where you are and where you want to be
  • Create a wellness vision of your best self and best life
  • Pick an area of focus where you are ready to start making changes
  • Identify key strengths and resources to support change
  • Explore and prepare for potential obstacles to change
  • Set SMART goals and action steps
  • Take action, review progress, be accountable

Stress Resilience Coaching:

  • Gain an understanding of the autonomic nervous system and how it affects you physically and psychologically (based in the science of the polyvagal theory).
  • Learn how to track your autonomic state and its manifestation in your own mind-body system
  • Practice mind-body regulation and restoration skills to balance and build resilience

Mindfulness Coaching:

  • Whether you are new to mindfulness or a more seasoned practitioner, get support and guidance in deepening your practice, incorporating mindfulness into your life, and using it as a tool for improving many areas of health and well-being.

Group Offerings

Participating in a workshop, class, group, or retreat offers an opportunity to heal, learn, grow and connect with others in a nurturing, friendly environment.

Some general info:

A workshop is one session and any work is done during the workshop session.

A class is more than one session, is focused on cultivating greater knowledge, skills, and/or experience in a particular area, and may involve homework assignments to be completed outside of class.

A group is usually a more intimate space than a class. It involves around 6-12 individuals who sign up to meet regularly for a period of time to process and explore a particular theme for self-healing and development. It is led by a facilitator but emphasizes interaction among group members.

A retreat provides the opportunity to go deeper into the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and various other mind-body wellness skills in a supportive community setting. Whether it’s for a few hours, a day, or longer, it gives us the chance to let go, rest, and recharge. In the space created by retreat, you may discover a fresh perspective, interrupt limiting patterns, gain insight, and reconnect with a sense of peace and possibility in yourself, your life, and the world.

I periodically offer various workshops, classes, groups, and retreats. Please contact me to learn more…
