Psychotherapist & Counsellor
Hello, my name is Alison Taylor Reed and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. Thank you for visiting my website.
I specialise in creating a safe and supportive therapeutic space where you can feel listened to, heard and understood.
I see patients on a face to face basis in Harley Street, London W1 and Gipsy Hill, London SE19 and also offer sessions by phone or Skype.
For over 20 years, I have worked privately with individuals and couples on many issues including lack of self-esteem and confidence, depression, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, relationship and family conflict, separation and divorce, bereavement, sexual abuse, critical incident debriefing, stress-related work absenteeism and dissatisfaction, and trauma – both personal and work-related, including ex-military personnel.
I have also worked with junior and senior employees, both face-to-face and on the phone, through their company Employee Assistance Programmmes.
These companies have included the following sectors: banking, insurance, law, media, transport, consulting, airlines, education, retail, medical, recruitment, charities and councils.
For your peace of mind it is important that you find the right therapist for you. I offer an initial session, which allows us both to determine if we would like to work together.
My professional life started in the corporate world of accountancy and finance, management consultancy and public relations. I believe this experience gives me an insight and understanding into the business and work lives of my patients.
I qualified in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 1999 from the Centre of Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE), and in 2000 with an MA from De Montfort University.
I went on to qualify and work with Relate as a Couples Counsellor, seeing both individuals and couples.
I volunteered as a School Counsellor in a South East London primary school for a year, on behalf of Place2Be. I worked with primary age children on a one-to-one basis.
I have been a volunteer at Centre 70 Counselling Centre, where we specialised in providing culturally-sensitive, short and long-term individual counselling sessions. I also worked in the St James’s Church, Piccadilly ‘Drop-In Centre’, and offered individual sessions for crisis listening, emotional support and counselling.
I have Accreditation with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and am a Registered Associate of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am also a qualified Funeral Celebrant (www.alisontaylorreed.com)
I have a passion for silence and stillness and have meditated for many years, exploring different traditions, attending 3 day silent retreats, and practicing meditation daily with my animals at home. I also run Meditation Groups for humans and animals www.animalconnections.org.uk
I have found that the more silence and stillness I can bring into my life, the easier it is to deal with whatever life brings. This has a profound effect on my life along with those, both humans and animals, with whom I live and work. Animals seek out silence, stillness and ultimate peace and can teach us a lot about living in the present moment.
