Welcome

We all experience difficulties in life sometimes

Making sense of these, and finding a way through them can be challenging if we try to do it alone. In counselling sessions with me, you will be completely welcomed and supported to explore whatever feels important to you.

I will offer you the time and space to slow down, bring mindful attention to your experience and discover new perspectives. I will listen to you with compassion, respect and confidentiality.

Together we can give your difficult feelings, thoughts and emotions the space that they need to be heard and understood. I will support you to deepen your connection to the things you find meaningful in life, and accompany you in finding new ways forward so you can make choices that feel positive for you.

I work in an integrative way, so counselling sessions will be different with each client, and the process will always be a collaboration with you. As well as listening to you with acceptance, I may offer mindfulness, grounding and visualisation exercises, body awareness, object work, creative or imaginative exercises, to help you to explore new perspectives, if you would like to.

I have experience of counselling adults, as well as young people aged 16-19. I am a registered member of the BACP and follow their Ethical Framework. I currently have availability to offer sessions online by video call to clients in the UK. I can also offer in-person sessions in central Huddersfield.

My inspiration

I am inspired by my Buddhist practice and the opportunity it brings for learning to connect deeply with my inner experience, others and the world around me. My journey with meditation, reflection and mindful movement continually reminds me to inhabit my embodied experience, which holds so many clues about how thoughts, feelings and perception come to arise as they do.

This understanding interweaves with and underlies my approach to therapy. My counselling training included the study of Buddhist psychology, combined with humanistic approaches to therapy, perfectly matching my fascination with and personal commitment to spiritual practice and growth.

My background

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in further education, supporting those with additional learning needs. I appreciate the diverse and unique ways in which we each understand and process information and this informs my counselling work too.

I also have a background in art and design, having previously gained a degree in Textile Design. Creative practices can provide an important mode of self expression and way to tune into inner experiences. I can incorporate creative methods into counselling sessions if they appeal to you.
