What does it mean to be Leaping Bunny Standard Cruelty-free?
All SKN-RG products are registered as being Leaping Bunny Cruelty-Free. We cant tell you how much this means to us to work with such a wonderful charity. It’s not just about making sure there are no animal ingredients inside, it’s about the journey that the product has taken from start to finish. The logo signifies to you that no animal testing has been conducted at any stage of product formulation, production processes, raw ingredient sourcing or the product.
While some companies may claim they are cruelty-free, those claims may only refer to the finished product. The Leaping Bunny logo assures you that the product has not been tested on animals at any part of its creation or contains animal products in the raw ingredients through to the finished product by SKN-RG or any of its suppliers of raw materials.

All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty-Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognised gold standard for cruelty-free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

SKN-RG is proud to be the winner in the Best Certified Soil Association Organic Range 2019 and Highly Commended 2020/21. We believe it is simply not enough in this world to say a product is “organic, vegan or cruelty-free”. Technically there is no definition of Organic or Vegan. So why wouldn’t we want to give you, the consumer, complete transparency?
The word organic is a very tricky one; some may claim that “Organic” can be planted and grown in your back garden, some may say wildcrafting is a form of Organic, some would argue that true Organic is not possible in today’s world? But being organic isn’t just about where it is grown, it is how the product is produced, what goes into it and what its ongoing impact is.
What does it mean for SKN-RG to be Soil Association certified?
– No GMO’s (Genetically Modified Ingredients),
– Non-Toxic Chemistry, i.e. no Liquid Plastics, Parabens, Phenoxyethanol & Ethylhexylglycerin (a very harsh preservative that can cause dermatitis), DET’s, PEG’s,
– No PVC in our bottles or packaging, Mineral Oils, Propylene Glycol, etc.,
– Sustainable produced and recyclable
– Non Organic ingredients, i.e. natural derivatives meet Soil Association standards
– Minimum 70% of the total ingredients must be from organic production.
– A product that only contains a few “key” organic ingredients for example “Organic Argan Oil or Contains Organic Coconut Oil” cannot be called organic unless it meets the minimum 70% amount of Organic ingredients.

The Secret To Beautiful Skin Is No Secrets
Having nothing to hide is just one of the many foundation stones that SKN-RG use when creating the very best skincare for you. We don’t hide our ingredients; instead, we provide them in plain view for you to see. And we don’t just say what we do, we validate. Each ingredient that goes into your product is certified by external independent assessors either from The Vegan Society, Leaping Bunny Cruelty-Free or The Soil Association. Some products from all three!
We have one goal, to give you complete control about what you put on your skin and its creation and its onward impact; whether it is being washed down the drain or how it is packaged. We want to make the skincare world a happier one by helping those to see that there are alternatives and helping companies worldwide see there is a way to create more ethically.
We come from a family who believes and fights for our planet to be the best it can be. Using liquid plastics in skincare doesn’t even enter into our thoughts. Nor harsh preservatives like Phenoxyethanol disallowed under Soil Association regulations, so why should any of these enter into your routine? It’s hard to find them when they come in so many disguises.

Our company was built on the ethos that “there is another way” and we continue to develop ground break solutions. Recently there has been a belief in the industry that plant-based, organic, vegan or any other type of “natural” and in particular “organic skincare” can’t possibly work? Well, that’s actually not correct. We are proud to give you options to ditch synthetics such as Retinol and find just as effective plant alternatives (yes our “Bakuchiol (plant retinol winner best plant retinol 2021)” really does work, despite some doubters) to advanced clinically proven actives that are all plant-based, trusted by experts in spas and salons across the country and internationally.

No Waste, Nothing Hidden, Just Pure Performance
So how does SKN-RG create these incredible products? In 2011 the founders Deborah and Robert came up with an ingenious way of getting far more benefit out of the plant than the rest of the industry, most of which continue to buy in bulk, use harsh heat, degrading cold processed or solvents.
By using our Quanta Extraction Method, we are able to extract the whole plant benefit in house and create fresh, potent products that do not rely on liquid plastics to make the skin feel nice, or load with salts (EDTA) or alcohol to drive the product in deeper. Or pack products with multiple extracts from different companies each containing different preservatives including Phenoxyethanol which is disallowed under the Soil Association. Instead, we were able to reinvent skincare and take the world of organic, vegan and natural into a new era. And it all began in 2011…..
Inspired by medical science we created a machine akin to a sonic toothbrush. We took whole organic plant pieces rather than the obligatory skincare industry “tea cut” and began extracting in our secret method using powerful vibrations, as the node virbates it gently collapses the plant cell releasing the whole plant benefit. And in 2017 we were awarded Government Technology and University awards for what we had created; which we call today Quanta®.

Zero Waste Commitment | Creating a Greener Regime
As we look across the sea of skincare, we find thousands of brands debating glass vs plastic in skincare and its packaging. Often the discussion becomes heated when certain areas don’t align with a founders ethos. At SKN-RG, we constantly weigh up the current choices of the pros and cons of all the packaging and how we formulate.
From an unbiased perspective, both sides of the debate have good points – glass is hefty. It weighs a lot to post, and many customers prefer plastic in the shower if the bottle is dropped. Many formulators prefer to use nylons or copolymers (liquid plastics) because they offer more stability and give a thicker, luxurious feel. On the other side, we want to ensure the product does not end up in a landfill nor washed down the sink to cause an onward problem entering the food chain.
So what does Zero Waste actually mean? To us, it means that we aim to send nothing to the landfill.
So how do you become active in our goal?
Where Our Ingredients Come From
By buying from us, you purchase a product containing ethically sourced ingredients, Organic Certified or Plant-Based Natural*. This means that our formulas are plant-based and do not contain any synthetics. As an ethical company, we know exactly where our ingredients originate from and how it is shipped to us and how that packaging is managed. A large percentage of our suppliers send their ingredients in paper packaging or recycled plastic. We, in turn, process these into our recycling.
Responsibility Sourced Packaging & Delivery
Our ranges offer diverse solutions. We work hard to order large quantities of packaging from suppliers in the UK,* reducing our emissions and onward footprint. *where possible. Some of our packaging is compostable and also offers waterfree options to lessen the burden on water-based products.
From Corn Starch Noodles to Recycled Cardboard Outers, Compostable Cellulose Tamper Dots, even our Courier’s Outer Bag is made from Recycled Plastic. We work hard at every step to offer you an alternative ethical packaging system that provides the most eco-effective product. Even our Plant-Based Gel Kit bags and Bamboo Pads are compostable. Our Glass and Airless Technology is approved under The Soil Association and is silicon and PVC free – each recyclable through your local system.
Zero Waste In All Areas
Our concept of Zero Waste goes far beyond the formulation and packaging of a product. We manufacture and despatch using Zero Waste principles. Our office uses digital processes, and the manufacturing unit operates on Solar Power and Renewable Green Energy. Our waste management extends to ensuring that all received materials including cardboard and other materials that can be recycled are, and we have even found some inventive ways to upcycle to reduce our carbon footprint. We deploy the mantra of recycling, reuse and reduce in every area of our business.

Some of our products contain Zero Waste ingredients, for example, our popular Advanced Brightening Moisturiser uses Apple Seed Oil. So how is Apple Seed Oil a Zero Waste product?
Zero Waste Oils are carrier oils that are pressed from the seeds or fruit which are sourced as waste products from the natural and organic fruit industry. The seeds are collected and dried, then sieved for quality and finally cold-pressed into a fruit oil that is highly potent in antioxidants. Even our CloudBerry Seed Oil featured in the men’s and Evolution range. In fact, our new range Evolution has many Zero Waste ingredients.
