Exposing Animal cruelty through Animals Photos & Videos
About We Animals
We Animals Media brings visibility to hidden animals through compelling photo and video journalism. As the world’s leading animal photojournalism agency, it is our mission to document the stories of animals in the human environment — those used for food, fashion, entertainment, and experimentation — and to connect those stories to the individuals and organizations who can amplify their reach.
For over a decade, photojournalist, author and educator Jo-Anne McArthur has been documenting the plight of animals around the globe, creating the internationally celebrated We Animals project. The We Animals Media is the searchable repository for this ongoing project.
The images in the We Animals Media are available for free to individuals, organizations, and media outlets around the world working to help animals. To request high resolution images, simply search for the images you need and fill out an image request.
Do you have release and consent forms?
No. Individuals and/or property may have been documented without their and/or their owners’ knowledge or permission. We Animals is not liable for any breaches of privacy or other legal issues that may arise from your use of the images.
Can I use the images for other projects?
When you fill out an image request, you will be asked to provide information about the project that the images will be used for. Permission to use images is provided only for the agreed upon project.
Is there anything I can’t use the images for?
We Animals images cannot be used for any projects that are against animals interests (i.e. projects that promote animal exploitation or suffering). They can only be used by the image requestor for the agreed upon purpose(s).
Do I need to credit the images?
Yes. All images are copyright Jo-Anne McArthur / We Animals. In addition, some images are jointly copyrighted by other organizations and individuals. Attribution information will be provided with the images.
How can I support the We Animals Media?
Although images are made available free of charge to those helping animals, a donation to We Animals in return for image use helps the project to continue. Click here to donate. Donations are put directly back into the project, for investigations, travel, photography and related equipment, insurance, web hosting, administration, and more. If you have specific skills to volunteer, please get in touch.
