About Us

PREBIOTEX BABYCARE was created after 10 years of research into the benefits of prebiotic skincare for babies. New science is changing healthcare and skin health, and the future will be working with nature not against it.

We now know that at the very moment of birth a Mother’s bacteria delivers a ‘flush’ of her own probiotics to baby’s skin, and how your touch as a parent gives much more than comfort.

Through your own loving touch of bonding, you are sharing your own healthy skin probiotics with your little one. Touching, kissing, feeding, bathing. It’s something loving, and it’s something magical.

That’s why we believe the future is working with nature, not against it – and that was why we do what we do.

FAQ’S:

1. What are probiotics and prebiotics? Why use them for babies’ skin and hair?

Probiotics are ‘good bacteria’ that exist on our skin within a living ecosystem called our skin microbiome – which for babies is still developing in their first year. Their ‘skin microbiome’ grows in harmony with your baby to protect against irritation, dry skin and baby skin rash and it is essential for skin health. Prebiotics are ‘natures food’ for these little good guys – the probiotics. Feeding ‘probiotics’ with prebiotics helps strengthen baby’s skin microbiome layer and support healthy skin as they grow.

2. So how does ‘feeding their skin’ with prebiotics help?

Healthy baby skin has an invisible-layer of micro-organisms that work in harmony with our bodies – their skin microbiome. (Nearly half of the cells in our bodies are not human, this other half is these little guys who live in harmony with us). When we feed our skin with prebiotics, we help the ‘good skin probiotics’ to thrive and populate the skin layer. This layer keeps skin nice and hydrated, and has natural anti-bacteria properties which combats germs, irritation and infection. When we ‘feed their skin’ we’re helping baby’s skin flora to develop, especially in dry skin folds and creases.

3. Should I use if my baby has healthy skin?

During their first 12 months, baby’s skin is still developing and vulnerable to infection and baby dry skin patches. The most common question a Doctor is asked during the first 12 months of a baby’s life is…’what is that rash on my baby’s face?’

Whilst baby’s skin can be healthy, a little illness or infection can weaken their protective layer, and that’s why we would recommend using for at least the first year.

Exposure to a wide variety of ‘good skin bacteria’ during this time has also been shown to be beneficial to baby’s skin health in future. Using PREBIOTEX BABYCARE helps support the healthy skin microbiome as it grows

4. Will it stop itching, baby dry skin?

Whilst baby dry skin, rashes and irritation seem to bother baby less than parents, PREBIOTEX BABYCARE products will help to calm itching on contact. In addition, as you moisturise and feed their skin with natural prebiotics, baby skin dry patches on face, back, tummy and legs should begin to fade..

PREBIOTEX BABYCARE has been created to support babies’ skin problems and baby rash from the outside – where most skin problems originate. However, for skin problems that may have their origins in diet or allergies – and severe cases of eczema – we recommend you consult a physician.
