Our global issue

27,000 trees are cut down every single day for traditional tree paper production, with huge areas of our planet subject to deforestation.

There must be a better way?!

There is! Meet our Bamboo solution! Co-founders, Julie & Chris, took a trip to Asia in 2016, where they saw the surplus of Bamboo that was being wasted and thought, why are we not using this more sustainable solution instead of trees?!

Kinder to Skin

Our products quickly became bestsellers on Amazon, boasting a bunch of positive reviews from satisfied customers, especially those with sensitive skin. So The Cheeky Panda became a health conscious alternative as well as a sustainable alternative. That’s a win-win.

Baby Leo

Our youngest (and cutest) panda, Leo, is our Head of Quality Control. He also inspired the launch of our range of wipes! Chris and Julie noticed the lack of Biodegradable baby products in the market – so, they made one! It’s as easy as that (it’s not, it took a lot of work).

And, as you’re about to find out, sustainability starts with the source…

Save the trees

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world – making it extremely renewable and sustainable. It grows 30 times faster than trees, produces 30% more oxygen and absorbs 35% more carbon. An everyday change can make the world of difference!

In Abundance

We source our Bamboo in SE China – because there’s so much of it! Bamboo grows wildly on vast mountains, and most of the harvested stuff goes to waste – until we came along! Don’t worry, it’s not the same Bamboo the pandas chomp on!

Kind to Skin

Naturally hypoallergenic, with long, smooth fibres that trap fewer dust particles – perfect for sensitive skin. Unlike traditional paper production, our Bamboo needs no fertiliser, pesticides or any other chemical nasties. A better you, a better planet!

Our Commitments

Here at The Cheeky Panda, we’re striving to make the world a better, greener place. How do we do that, you ask? Well, it’s all here, in black and white. Just like your favourite panda, Colin. See what we did there? Plenty more where that came from.

Going Plastic Free

Excess plastic is ruining everything – our oceans, our eco-system, our bodies. You’re eating microplastics you know, imagine that? It’s clinging to your fish and chips, and we’re going to put a stop to it. Our aim is to make all of our products fully plastic-free. We’re getting there, but it takes time and a lot of creativity, so (panda) bear with us.

Reducing Deforestation

Go outside and look at a tree. Go on, do it now. We’ll know if you don’t. Now imagine chopping that lovely tree down, turning it into something you wipe with and flushing it. That’s what we’re doing right now, but on a massive scale – 27,000 times per day to be exact. Luckily, bamboo grows super-fast AND it doesn’t mind being made into loo roll. So, we’ll stick to making our products from that, thank you very much. Now, we’re off to go read under a Willow.

Improving Animal Welfare

We never have, and never will, test on animals. That’s pretty much it for this commitment, straight to the point.

Oh! And the bamboo we use isn’t taken from the mouths of hungry pandas. So don’t worry about that, either. We love our furry (and non-furry) friends.

Promoting Sustainable Sources

Bamboo, if you didn’t know, grows 30x faster, absorbs 35% more carbon and produces 30% more oxygen than trees. Our bamboo is sustainably sourced in South East Asia and, because there is so much of it, it would usually go to waste. However, we put a stop to that shameful wastage, and now it’s used to wipe bums across the world!

Balancing our Carbon

Currently, the carbon emitted by our production and shipment process is offset by our donations to the World Land Trust, which helps maintain the rainforest and all the amazing animals within it. All of those extra trees we save help balance the amount of carbon released by our processes. Clever, huh? We’re all about give and take.

Using Natural Ingredients

If you’re ever lucky enough to visit the place where we make our bamboo (it’s like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory, except there’s 100% more bamboo and 99% less chocolate), you’ll notice that we don’t use any chemical nasties to make our products. Bamboo doesn’t need fertilisers or pesticides, and our baby/anti bac wipes contain only natural ingredients. Take THAT, chemicals.
