Why stay at Nab cottage?

A charming Victorian farmhouse

This recently renovated and extended farmhouse dating from the 1850s is located on a quiet road but is within a 10 minute drive (or 30 minute walk) from the town centre and the beach. There is free parking at the cottage. Two ensuite rooms are available on a bed & breakfast basis. Free wifi. Guests have access to the large rear garden.

Vegan and Organic

Nab Cottage is a vegan bed & breakfast and we use organic ingredients as often as possible. From late spring through to September you will find a variety of fruit from the garden on the breakfast buffet. This could be apples, pears, greengages, Victoria plums, sweet green grapes, blackberries or cherries.

Dogs welcome

Bring your dog! Nab Cottage is very dog-friendly as there is a resident dog who likes to greet all guests. Your dog will enjoy exploring the large, enclosed rear garden. A welcome pack in your room provides information on local walks and dog-friendly places to eat. Walk to Bexhill Down in 5 minutes or to Broad Oak park in 10 minutes. Drive to Highwoods in 10 minutes. Long stretches of our beach are dog-friendly all year round.

Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill became a very popular seaside resort in the 1920s and is now most famous for the modernist De La Warr Pavilion which opened in 1935. The first people settled here before 772 AD when St Peter’s church was built in what is now the Old Town. Find out more about the people and events which shaped this town at Bexhill Museum.

Places of interest

The De La Warr Pavilion contains an art gallery, shop and theatre. The cafe has amazing sea views.
The Manor Barn in the Old Town has lovely gardens, and nearby is St Peter’s church, parts of which date back to 772 AD. Bexhill Museum showcases the town’s motoring heritage and has regular exhibitions relating to the history of the town. Egerton park has a great playground, an outdoor gym, tennis courts, ponds, and a large green area with pretty flower beds. The Polegrove, next to the park, is ideal for playing football in and hosts family fun days and concerts during the summer.

The beach! Bexhill’s promenade stretches for two miles. The beach is stony but at low tide there is a lot of sand and some rocks to explore. There is a cycle/walking path alongside the sea, leading to Hastings.

Further afield…

The town of Battle, 20 minutes drive from Bexhill, is believed to be the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. There is a 31 mile walking route, from Pevensey to Rye, following in the footsteps of the Norman invaders! An off-shoot of the 1066 route allows you to walk across fields the 7 miles from Bexhill to Battle (and then maybe get the train back after you’ve seen the sights!)

The nearby towns of Hastings, St Leonards, Rye, Eastbourne, Brighton and Lewes are all within easy reach on the train.

There are some great linear walks across the South Downs between the train stations of Polegate/Berwick/Glynde/Lewes. The more adventurous may be tempted to walk the 100 miles of the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Winchester.

Do check out the nearby National Trust properties. They are generally great places to take dogs and children!
