Be happy in your skin
Our products are formulated with efficacious ingredients to ensure they are as kind for skin as they can be. Our dream duo of shea and cocoa butters leave skin feeling nourished and super-soft, our coconut oil is rich in skin soothing lauric acid & skin conditioning vitamin E, while the super-soothing colloidal oatmeal found in our Farmologie range is clinically proven to help soothe and nourish dry and sensitive skin. You can find out more about our hero ingredients on each product page.
We are passionate about the planet and know the provenance of every single ingredient that we use. All our products are made with ethically sourced natural and naturally derived ingredients, to ensure they will be as kind as they can be for skin. You can find out more about our ingredients, the community stories and their source of origin on our ingredients page, and on each of our product pages.
We believe that even with dry, sensitive or eczema-prone skin, you should still enjoy the choice and sensorial experience that fragrance offers. Many of our products are gently fragranced with natural essential oils and synthetically derived fragrances, so you can enjoy uplifting scents without fear of it being harsh on skin.
We understand that fragrance is a personal choice, which is why we have also created fragrance free options as an alternative for those who simply prefer not to use scented products.
Every Childs Farm and Farmologie product goes through independent clinical safety tests to confirm they are suitable for dry and sensitive skin, and also safe for people that may be prone to eczema. These results are dermatologist approved, and Childs Farm products are also paediatrician approved.
All our products are expertly formulated to be extremely gentle, and are dermatologist and paediatrician approved as suitable for all skin types. However, as a precaution, we always recommend a patch test be carried out at least 24 hours prior to first use of any new product – particularly if you have sensitive skin. The best places to test are inside the upper arm and behind the ear, but please don’t patch test on skin that’s already irritated.
At Childs Farm and Farmologie, everything we do is with the future of today’s children at the forefront of our minds. Our ethics and values permeate everything that we produce; from ethically sourced suppliers and sustainably sourced naturally derived ingredients, to our 100% recycled ocean prevented plastic bottles and more, our promise to you is that we are not just kind to your skin, but kind to the planet, too.
We are passionate about the planet and know the provenance of every single ingredient that we use. All our products are made with ethically sourced natural and naturally derived ingredients, and our team are constantly looking for better ingredient sources. We want to know who we are working with and the difference we are making to their lives and communities. You can find out more about our ingredients, the community stories and their source of origin on our ingredients page, and on each of our product pages.
At Childs Farm we believe all cosmetics products should be cruelty free. That is why we are approved by Cruelty Free International and the Leaping Bunny Programme, the globally recognised gold standard for cruelty free cosmetics. We’re also proud to say that our entire product range is vegetarian and wherever possible, all our products are supported by The Vegan Society to be suitable for Vegans; the exceptions are our strawberry & organic mint hair conditioner and grapefruit & tea tree hair detangler, that contain a honey derivative in the ingredients.
We’re saving the planet one bottle at a time. Our Childs Farm plastic bottles, Farmologie tubes and Farmologie 75ml bottle contain between 30-100% PCR plastic (Post-Consumer-Recycled plastic) – so that’s plastic that has already been recycled! We’d love to be able to use more PCR in our packaging, but as of right now, there’s a limited supply of this – which means the more you recycle your plastics, the more recycled packaging we can make.
Not all pumps are made equal! We bring you first certified fully recyclable metal free pump. Traditional pumps used within the cosmetic industry are usually made with different types of plastic polymers and a metal spring – this means that they aren’t easy to recycle. We have sourced a pump made of a single polymer plastic with a plastic spring, meaning it is fully recyclable in UK waste streams. And, we’re replacing our Childs Farm pumps later this year!
Our 250ml and 400ml Farmologie bottles are made 100% ocean-bound plastic – this is plastic collected from rivers and coastal areas that is likely to have otherwise ended up in the ocean. We are currently transitioning all our Childs Farm bottles to be made from 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic.
At Childs Farm we are proud to support Surfers Against Sewage to help end plastic pollution. Surfers Against Sewage are a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. They fight long and hard to protect what we love and we won’t stop until it’s completely clean, safe and protected for everyone, forever.
We are also working alongside Prevented Ocean Plastic as one of their partner brands, solidifying our commitment to prevent ocean plastic as much as possible.
Childs Farm Ltd is a carbon assessed company. We actively work with Carbon Footprint to offset not only our own emissions, but to go above and beyond our measured footprint to provide greater environmental benefits, and we are thrilled to be certified as a Carbon Neutral Plus organisation. More information on the projects we are supporting can be found on the Carbon Footprint website.
I had the idea for Childs Farm in 2010 when wallowing in a vastly expensive bubble bath made of naturally derived ingredients, marvelling at how it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin.
At the time, both my girls – then 2 and 4 – suffered from sensitive, eczema-prone skin and fine fly-away hair. I struggled to find products on the market that catered for their skin or hair; products that didn’t irritate, didn’t smell unpleasant, were affordable and really worked. And like many parents, I was reluctant to use medicated creams or steroid creams on their infant skin – I wanted a natural solution.
As a family we’ve always used natural and holistic remedies wherever possible, so using this know-how and after two years of mixing and stirring, in 2012 we launched our first range of six products online. Then followed a lot of hustling of the grocers and high street retailers, until in 2014 we secured our first bricks and mortar listings in Boots and Waitrose. It was a baptism of fire – my background was banking not retail, and boy, did I get a lot wrong!
…and thanks to a fantastic team of intrepid, determined and slightly bonkers Childs Farmers, I’m so proud to say that Childs Farm is the leading baby & child toiletries brand in the UK. But what makes this even more fulfilling is that every day we receive letters, postcards, pictures and emails from families who at last have little ones who are happy in their skin thanks to our brilliantly performing products.
But we aren’t stopping there! Not wanting to let the grass grow under our feet for too long, last year – in the middle of the pandemic! – we decided to launch Farmologie, a range of sensitive body care products for adult skin, so all ages can benefit from the Childs Farm magic.
The innovation in formulas created by Dr Louise Norman & her team of chemists is best in class for adult sensitive skin, and with the irritation free, fabulous fragrances and new neon sustainable packaging, we’ve managed to make sensitive skin care look pretty sexy! With a campaign headed up by the uber-talented Jasmine Jobson whose own sensitive skin story proves the efficacy of the range, we’re looking to bring skin happiness and confidence to many more.
Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years and shared the brand love. Many of our new products have been suggested by you & we continue to work to produce much of what you have asked for, so if you do have any more suggestions for us, please let us know by emailing enquiries@childsfarm.com and we will add your ideas and needs into the pot!
