Organic Vegan Nut and Seed Butters

Why Meridian?

Here at Meridian Foods we pride ourselves on being the tastiest, natural nut butter brand in the world who also happens to care about the planet.

But why is that? Well it’s not because we’re jumping on the bandwagon that’s for sure, on the contrary, we’ve been doing things this way – the best way – since we began, and that’s for one simple reason; good tastes better!

We don’t use palm oil in any of our natural butters, just 100% nuts or seeds, or our ranges of fruit spreads, cooking sauces or home baking essentials.

We’re delighted to announce we are the first, and only, UK nut butter brand to achieve Palm Oil Free certification from POFCAP. We have gained accreditation for all of our products and will ensure all future products are accredited.

Our decision to certify is to help remove any confusion for you. Most nut butters sold in the UK still contain palm oil or palm oil derivatives with many not even clearly labelled (palm oil is sometimes used in stabilisers like E471). Even some products which claim ‘sustainable’ palm oil may have used purchased credits rather than actually containing sustainably sourced ingredients.

We simply don’t believe that you need to use palm oil to create delicious natural nut butters. So we don’t, ever!

Certifying means every ingredient in our products has been thoroughly researched and tested as both palm oil and palm oil derivative free – we’re beyond excited to include this trademark on our labels, making choice and identification easier for you when purchasing palm oil free products.

The International Palm Oil Free Certification Trademark was created to enable POFCAP to administer an independent Palm Oil Free Certification Programme and assist consumers in their right to make a considered choice whilst using the profits to help rainforests and animals.

There are many ways to embrace vegan living. Yet one thing all vegans have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey – as well as avoiding animal-derived materials, products tested on animals and places that use animals for entertainment.

A vegan diet is richly diverse and comprises all kinds of fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds, beans and pulses – all of which can be prepared in endless combinations that will ensure you’re never bored. From curry to cake, pasties to pizzas, all your favourite things can be suitable for a vegan diet if they’re made with plant-based ingredients. We’ve even created a whole plant-based range of recipes to hopefully inspire you!

For the past 30 years the Vegan Trademark has been providing a trusted mark for consumers to help them spot vegan products at a glance and we’re proud to prominently display this endorsement across our entire product range

Formed in 1944 and kick-starting a global movement, The Vegan Society coined the term ‘vegan’ and is the oldest vegan society in the world.

Prompted by the lack of clarity in labelling, The Vegan Society introduced the Vegan Trademark in 1990 – the world’s first vegan product labelling scheme of its kind, ensuring that products registered with the trademark contain no animal ingredients and have not been tested on animals.

About Meridian

We think that nature produces the best food. We treat the ingredients it gives us as simply and as subtly as possible. This is how we create delicious, ready to eat, plant based sustenance and treats for you to enjoy.

We respect the Earth and are conscious of our responsibility as food producers to have a positive impact.

We source, transport and manufacture sustainably with a commitment to the planet.

The Meridian magic is leaving a good taste in your mouth and in your soul.

Founded in the 1980’s, Meridian soon established itself as a favourite with health conscious consumers. We are now one of the fastest-growing major food brands in the UK & Ireland with the widest range of nut butters, made in our own factory in North Wales.

We are the first nut butter brand in the UK to be certified palm oil free, prioritising ethics and our commitment to nature by ensuring they stay 100% palm oil free.

Organic collection

Organic means working with nature, not against it. It means higher levels of animal welfare, lower levels of pesticides, no manufactured herbicides or artificial fertilisers and more environmentally sustainable management of the land and natural environment – which means more wildlife!

We want to encourage more people to become more aware of the benefits of knowing what’s in their food, and breakfast is a great place to start!

Our range of Organic nut and seed butters, fruit spreads, home baking essentials and cooking sauces have all been produced to EU regulations and have been inspected and certified by a registered certification body, such as the Soil Association.
