Vegan Psychologist in New Jersey

Welcome

Welcome to my website. Within, you will find information about my background, philosophy and interests. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or would like to speak with me directly.

I am a licensed psychologist and have been practicing in New Jersey for the past 31 years. My offices are located in Skillman and downtown Princeton NJ . However, I am licensed and currently working online only, throughout New Jersey and Massachusetts, such as Newton and Cambridge. I also have the APIT authorization to practice by telehealth in the states participating in PsyPact. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to ask about this. I am not certain, as of this writing in April 2023, when I will be resuming in-person sessions in my offices.

My doctoral training, at Rutgers University (Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology), focused on traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy. Today, I incorporate other approaches into my work. I am certified in EMDR Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Therapeutic Writing and IFS. I also have a certificate in NARM, a newer trauma modality.

In addition to my formal training, my postdoctoral professional interests and life experiences have provided a foundation for my work. Having completed postdoctoral training in Neuropsychology and worked in the rehabilitation field for many years, I have an appreciation for the importance of honoring each person’s learning style in creating a therapeutic plan for change.

After travelling extensively in Europe and having lived in France and India, I am sensitive to cultural influences which may influence our perceptions, expectations, behaviors and feelings. Given an interest in writing and other creative endeavors, I am reflective about the ways in which writing, music, art and other forms of artistic expression can support personal growth and emotional healing.

Above all, I strive to honor individual differences, personal strengths, and resources: the foundations of accomplishment and change.

My Practice

My clients typically range in age from young adult (18) to older adult. I work primarily with individuals though I am open to family members joining on occasion. My approach is collaborative and open, thoughtfully considering resources, obstacles, expectations, and possible approaches to accomplishing goals.

Typical concerns, for those who come to my practice include adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorders (including complex or developmental PTSD), bipolar disorders, relationship or work difficulties, immigrant cultural integration, adoption/pre-adoption issues and addictive problems including over-eating. Performance enhancement (work, academics, performing arts) is another particular interest of mine.

My usual session length is 60 minutes although longer sessions can be arranged, as needed.

I am currently working online and am licensed in NJ and Massachusetts as well as authorized to practice in PsyPact participating states.

Insurance/Payment

I work on a fee-for-service basis (cash, check, or credit card) and will provide a receipt, at the end of each session, that can be submitted to an insurance company for reimbursement.

I accept Aetna Student Health insurance (preferred provider, Princeton University). I am not a member of any managed care panels. Insurance Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.

Cancellation Policy

If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
