About the retreat

The yoga program is based on the principles of Yoga Synergy

Yoga Synergy is a practice founded on traditional yoga but approached with a modern understanding of human physiology and anatomy. Influenced by the forgotten yoga’s of China and Japan, this practice focuses on the how and why of movement and flowing practices which look a lot like Qi Gong. Find more details about the yoga and the teachers in our info pack here.

The food is all vegan – all delicious

The all-vegan food is prepared by our amazing kitchen team. Much of the spices and veggies come from Lanka Yoga’s garden. The food is refreshingly varied, with unique dishes served every day.

Rooms

Lake View– Four-person Shared Room

Lanka Yoga Villa superior room 19

Our generously sized shared rooms comfortably accommodate 4 guests in single beds, two on the upper mezzanine and 2 on the lower level.

They offer exceptional value for minimal compromise, enjoying the same views and large shared balcony as the Lakeview rooms. Each has a similar oversized open-to-the-air ensuite bathroom.

Lake View– Twin Shared Room

Located in the main villa, these bright and airy rooms each share a large balcony with elevated views of the lake. They have oversized open-to-the-air ensuite bathrooms. While they are perfectly positioned to capture the lake breeze, they also come with AC.

As with the Lakefront rooms they may be set up with one queen-sized bed or two single beds as requested.

Lake Front– Private Single Room

Our cosy Lakefront rooms are at ground level, secluded under the tree canopy, meters from the lake shore. These contemporary ensuite rooms reflect our commitment to sustainable living and were designed for relaxation and contemplation.

Ideal for couples, friends or solo travellers, they can be set up with two single beds rather than one double bed if preferred.

Reasons to come visit

a place of calm filled with laughter, fun, and adventure

The location: sunken in nature, whilst not at all isolated

We are only five minutes from Habaraduwa town and a fantastic beach. Ten minutes to surf at the world-famous Kabalana beach, 35 minutes to find anything you need at the small city centre of Galle and two hours from the international airport in Colombo.

The yoga hall: one of the most important spaces

Our yoga hall has different teaching styles in mind, with a large, comfortable, almost square shape and free of any pillars. It’s also hidden in the trees to encourage a calm atmosphere and has all the props you need to make teaching in any style effortless.

The space: full of different natural areas

Some areas are full of older fruit trees, giving us thousands of mangos, jackfruit, rambutan, donka, papaya and more in season. Other areas are grass areas for play and outdoor practice. In some parts of the property, we are rewilding, by encouraging good soil, planting local trees and letting nature re-generate. And of course, we have an expansive vegetable and spice garden, which year-round gives us all sorts of vegetables, fruits and spices which we enjoy in our food.

The nature: being surrounded by wildlife

Lanka Yoga has an almost uninterrupted view of pristine Koggala lake from each room. You’ll see nothing but green and blue, with the occasional crocodile, swarm of eagles, and other wildlife that will make it feel like you’re living in a national park.

The vibe: not too serious, fun, cozy, just like home

Everything from the lighting, to the training of the staff, to the music we use in the venue are there to create a loving, calm yet energising vibe. This vibe, of course, is universal for most yoga retreats, but if you require a specific direction, we can make that happen too.

Sustainability: a big part of this project

We accept that the world is in a climate emergency and that the earth’s wilderness is diminishing, and we are doing our share to make a positive impact. It’s not all fluff either; we put our money where our mouths are and have invested in both high and low-tech sustainable solutions.  Find out more ⇒
