Animal Sanctuary in Washington

About Us-

Pasado’s Safe Haven is home to approximately 250 animals at any given time: dogs, cats and farmed animals, most of whom arrived as victims of cruelty or neglect.

Our beautiful,  85 acres sanctuary is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains outside Seattle, Washington. The animals we rescue come from hoarding houses, law enforcement seizures, factory farms and slaughterhouse “dead piles” or because they were simply tossed aside as “unwanted”.

baby lambsSAFETY:  We make each animal who comes through our sanctuary gates a promise, “Now you are safe.”  And until we find them families of their own, our sanctuary becomes their home.   Our farmed animals enjoy green pastures and fresh swimming ponds.  And we try to mimic home environments/routines as much as possible for our dog and cat residents.

LOVE:  Our dedicated Caregiver staff includes species leads who have experience and training working with their particular animal types.  These Caregivers know our animals better than anyone and are able to provide specialized care and enrichment based on each animal’s unique needs.

HEALING:  Animals receive veterinary care in Ruth’s Healing Barn, thanks to funding from a generous family foundation.  This facility allows us to provide medical care for our sanctuary residents and efficiently intake animals from larger rescues, providing the urgent vet care they need while they can be monitored in temporary living quarters.

SECOND CHANCES:  Once rescued animals are given a clean bill of health, they join the rest of o
ur sanctuary residents and start making new friends. That is always a happy day for everyone here at Pasado’s Safe Haven as we know it marks a turning point in the animal’s journey to complete healing.

Sanctuary Tours

Meet the lovable and inspiring rescued animals who call Pasado’s Safe Haven home and learn more about how you can help make the world a better place for all of us – human and animal.

In-Person Sanctuary Tours at Pasado’s Safe Haven

Join us for a tour of the sanctuary! Our beautiful 85-acre property is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains just outside of Seattle. Meet many of our animal residents up close and personal and learn each animal’s unique story and personality. Our guided tours are capped at 30 people, and groups will be paired with a tour guide who will walk you around, introduce you to the animals, and answer any questions you have along the way.

Bring your walking shoes and be ready to spend some time in our (ever changing) PNW weather. Please no strollers due to the terrain and animal safety; we recommend baby carriers to tote those tots around.

We will be following strict safety protocols to keep guests and staff safe. Tours will be limited to 30 people maximum and will be split into smaller groups to enable distancing through our 85-acre sanctuary. Participants will be required to wear masks, practice social distancing and respond to a COVID-screening questionnaire.

Volunteer

Our volunteers are helping us create a better world for animals. This support takes a variety of forms but at its core, it’s all about spreading the love.

Volunteer your time

Pasado’s Safe Haven is powered by volunteers who donate their time for the animals. Check out the below volunteer opportunities to find one that suits you!

Sanctuary

Sanctuary volunteer

Support a number of our programs at our sanctuary from animal care to promotional work. Outside of working directly with the animals, there are a number of ways to get involved including helping with tours, office work, facilities and landscaping, and transportation. Depending on your interests and availability, we will find a way for you to support the work we do on behalf of animals.

Pet Food Banks

Through our innovative Pet Food Bank program, we collect donated pet food and work with local human food banks to distribute the food to the families who are most in need. Our volunteers help us collect donated pet food, distribute food at pet food banks throughout Pierce and Snohomish counties, and help with various marketing and outreach activities.

Spay/Neuter Program

news and events

Our Mobile Spay Stations provide free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to income qualified families to prevent unwanted litters and unnecessary euthanasia. Typical volunteer work includes helping with Spay Station pet intake, surgery prepping procedures, pet recovery and much more. *Due to COVID-19, we are not currently utilizing volunteers for our Spay Stations but hope to do so again soon.
