We rescue animals subjected to the horrors of factory farming in SA & ignite social change to end their suffering and exploitation
Being a non-profit organization means relying on income from donations so that we may continue raising awareness with regard to factory farming and to give our rescues the best lives possible. Your generous contribution enables us to cultivate a better world for us all. Thank you for your support. Together, we can make it possible.
Our rescues are in need of “Hero’s” to sponsor their monthly feed, bedding and medical costs. All of our rescues are available for sponsorship through our Become a Hero program.
You can sponsor an animal for as long as you like and in return, you will receive a sponsorship certificate with a color photograph of your sponsored friend. Private tours to visit sponsored animals can be scheduled during visiting hours and otherwise as staffing permits. You may also wish to consider sponsoring a rescued animal for your friends and family as a special gift sponsorship.
To ensure you receive your certificate please email us your proof of payment and the animal you are sponsoring as your reference.
With a lot of mouths to feed, our food bill reaches well over R10 000 per month. Each of our rescues nutritional needs differ and is thus calculated carefully along with each monthly food & grass order.
Grass is particularly costly during the winter months as good quality is scarce and more feed is required to maintain condition. Many of our rescues also require supplementation and immune boosting herbs daily to ensure that they are always in optimum condition and health, especially considering that most of them had a less than adequate start in life.
You can help by contributing towards their feed costs by sponsoring either a large round bale or a small square bale of grass.
Caring for animals often means unexpected visits from the vet and in some cases, surgery or intense physiotherapy for our rescues. Our vet bills are our biggest and most unpredictable expense, despite generous discounts offered by our vets and / or vet clinics.
Between the 1st of January 2019 and the 5th of March 2019, we have paid over R30 000 in vet bills.
Therefore, we always endeavour to have a dedicated fund for such emergencies with a minimum reserved amount of R20 000. This way should an emergency arise, we always have the funds to begin treatment / book surgery / hospitalization without hesitation due to low funding.
Help us by either contributing towards our vet bills or by donating any amount affordable to you into our medical fund to help with our rescues’ health care.
The rescues at Asher’s love visitors as much as you’ll love touring our farm! Our sanctuary is home to rescued cows, pigs, chickens, horses and other farm animals — and each has a special story. Their stories of struggle and survival, against all odds, give the public insight into the realities farm animals face in the modern factory-farming industry, but also introduce us to the inspiring individuals that they are, through their incredible survival stories.
