Our 26-acre Southern California Shelter is located on a beautiful hacienda ranch in Acton, just 45 minutes from Hollywood.
In addition to providing shelter for approximately 100 animals, our Southern California Shelter offers one-hour guided tours on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays, and group tours are available by appointment. In our sanctuary gift shop, open before and after tours, visitors will find educational materials, apparel, books, and souvenirs.
When you visit Farm Sanctuary’s Southern California Shelter, you’ll know right away that it is a special place. Our sanctuaries are home to rescued cows, pigs, turkeys, and other farm animals — and each has a special story. Their stories of struggle and survival, against all odds, give the public insight into the realities farm animals face in the modern factory farming industry, but also introduce us to inspiring individuals through their heartwarming tales. Animals who began their lives abused and neglected now spend their days digging in the dirt, basking in the sun, and napping in the straw.
Each animal is given the freedom and attention needed not only to recover but to thrive. During your visit to our sanctuary, you can take an hour-long tour of the shelter with one of our tour guides, meeting the sanctuary animals along the way! After meeting our farm animal friends, visit our gift shop, which contains educational literature, cookbooks, apparel, and other souvenirs.
Guided tours are offered Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays year-round (with the exceptions noted below). Tours are held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., and the gift store will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tours start promptly at the designated times; if you arrive late, we cannot guarantee a spot on the tour. Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to your tour. To visit with the animals, you do need to join a guided tour. Reservations are not required.
On very rare occasions, we have to close unexpectedly on tour days. We highly recommend checking the status of the tour you wish to attend before you begin traveling to the sanctuary to ensure that we are open. To check the status, please call 661-269-5404 and press option 6. This information will be updated by 9:30 a.m. each tour-day morning reflecting the status of that date’s tours.

School Groups: Admission charges will be waived for middle school and high school children that are visiting Farm Sanctuary as part of a group tour. Adult chaperones are $10 per person.
Other Groups: Non-school groups pay an admission fee of $10 per person. The minimum admission for group tours is $150 to cover our staff time and resources.
Group Tours do need to be scheduled in advance and all minors will need to have a liability release signed by their parent or guardian before the tour. If you would like to arrange a group tour or want additional information, please contact our Program Coordinator, Breezy Rondilone at brondilone@farmsanctuary.org or 661-269-5404.
Please note: our front entrance cannot accommodate buses. Please let us know ahead of time if you will be arriving by bus so we can make special arrangements.
For important safety reasons concerning our tour guests and the animals, group tours are limited to ages 12 and older.
For their safety and the safety of our animal residents, companion animals are not allowed on the sanctuary grounds at any time. Please do not leave companion animals inside your vehicle while you are visiting, as temperatures inside of a vehicle can reach life-threatening conditions very quickly, even with windows open. If a companion animal is found unattended on shelter grounds or in parking areas, Farm Sanctuary staff may call the police to investigate. Thank you for your cooperation.
Farm Sanctuary does not discriminate against sanctuary visitors on the basis of a person’s disability and will work to provide reasonable accommodations to visitors who need such accommodations to ensure equal access to our tours, programs, services, events, and activities. We want to make sure that all of our visitors have a meaningful and safe experience and are comfortable during a visit to our sanctuaries.
Therefore, we encourage individuals with disabilities who may have special accommodation requests to make a prior arrangement. To set up arrangements or for more information about accommodations we can make, please contact our Program Coordinator, Breezy Rondilone at brondilone@farmsanctuary.org or 661-269-5404.
In order to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, visitors, resident animals, and visiting service animals, certain areas of the sanctuary are accessible only by staff, our resident animals, and visiting guests. A clean and safe area can be made available for a service dog during a guest’s visit to restricted areas. Please note that the restricted areas include all resident animal enclosures.
For any other species of service animal, please contact us so that we can determine whether accommodation may be made. Contacting us in advance to make arrangements for service animals is strongly encouraged to assist us in preparing appropriate accommodations for the service animal upon arrival. Please contact our Program Coordinator, Breezy Rondilone at brondilone@farmsanctuary.org or 661-269-5404 to discuss accommodations for your service animal or if you have any questions about bringing your service animal to the sanctuary.
Please do not leave service animals inside your vehicle while you are visiting as temperatures inside of a vehicle can reach life-threatening conditions very quickly, even with windows open.
