Welcome to Big V Sanctuary! In these pages we would like to invite you into our world and share with you the lives of those who live here – both human and nonhuman. We will share with you our hopes and dreams and the passions which drive our every action in caring for all our residents.

Visit Big V

The Big V Sanctuary garden cafe is open during the Winter Season (1 October to 31 March) on Sundays only from 12pm until 3pm for lunch and cakes, and for evening meals from 7pm.

Please book in advance. Other times by prior arrangement. Indoor seating available seating up to 12 in wet or cold weather.

Guided tours take place from 4pm, lasting one hour. 5 euros per person, children under 5 free. Discounts available for groups of ten or more.

PLEASE NOTE: No guided tours during the winter months: 1 October to 31 March

Please note the guidelines below

Come and meet the garden folk and hear their stories. All children must be accompanied by an adult and remain the responsibility of that adult. Follow the instructions of your guide closely.

Entering the Sanctuary please remember it is their home – Please remain respectful and calm around all the animals.

On entering the Sanctuary you do so with the full understanding that it is at your own risk and the liability of this remains yours. The animals here have their own personalities and we cannot predict all of their behaviours. They are sentient and have feelings and are completely individual. We are their guardians alone and have not trained them in any way to interact. Please do not approach them; if they feel comfortable to do so, they will approach you.

The health and safety of our residents is paramount. You will be asked to disinfect the bottom of your shoes before entering. Please wear appropriate footwear. *Please wash your hands with soap and hot water in the bathroom provided on exit and before eating and drinking.

If you’d like to help Big V care for all the residents, you can make a donation or sponsor a regular monthly contribution towards their food, bedding and vet care bills

Our Patreon crowd-funding page enables our special members to subscribe and support our work with regular donations. We’d love to raise $1200 a month as this support enables us to plan and takes away the stress, enabling us to focus on the residents.
