Indraloka provides “heaven on earth” for farm animals that have nowhere else to turn. We inform, inspire, and empower the community, especially children, on ways in which we can better care for ourselves and the environment while helping animals in need. We advocate for a kind and compassionate lifestyle that protects animals, the earth, and our own health.

Founder Indra Lahiri always loved animals and nature. When she was young, she often found and took home injured animals, nursed them back to health, and released them back into the wild. As soon as she was old enough, Indra began volunteering with various rescue groups. Over the years, she saw a recurring problem: certain animals, due to medical or behavioral issues, were often unnecessarily euthanized due to lack of an appropriate home, even when they could have lived a long and happy life.
Indra founded the sanctuary for these animals. It soon became clear that the animals in most need were farm animals. There are many places for dogs, cats, and horses to turn, however, what happens to pigs, cows, chickens, or turkeys removed from farms for cruelty? Thus, Indraloka turned its primary focus to farm animals, although we continue to provide safe haven for animals of all species. Today, Indraloka is one of few farm animal and all species sanctuaries, and with over 200 animals in our care, we are also among the largest.
With an increased focus on farm animals, the importance of environmental concerns to the well-being of both wild and domestic animals as well as to farming communities (whose livelihoods are entirely dependent on the health and vitality of our ecosystem) also became a top priority. Indraloka began offering educational programs for children, helping them to make the connection between their own health and well-being to that of the environment and animals.
Countless children have participated and are now protecting the environment and making educated choices as compassionate, responsible, and healthy citizens. Founded in 2005, Indraloka Animal Sanctuary is a private, non-profit, charitable (501c3) organization.
While the United States is still fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled to be able to provide private VIP tours of the sanctuary for groups of up to 6 guests. Tours will be lead by Indraloka’s Founder, Indra Lahiri, Creative Director, Johnny Braz or a member of our qualified animal care staff. During your tour, you will walk the beautiful sanctuary grounds, have the chance to step inside the brand new, state-of-the-art barns, and meet the beloved animals who call Indraloka home.
Tours can be customized for your group, too- if you want more time with Sandy the Alpaca, we will spend more time with her- if she is up for a visit, of course! We know you care about the animals as much as we do. Your dollars will go right back to helping the animals who you meet during your visit!
We are happy to introduce BOGOA (buy one give one away) tours, in which along with your private tour, you also generously cover the cost of a tour for someone who could not afford it otherwise.
*Note: All tours can be done 100% virtually for all guests if none are able to come to the sanctuary for an in-person tour. Tours must be requested at least 48 hours prior to the preferred date.
We are so thrilled to be a partner of Sweet Farm’s Goat-2-Meeting– where the animals can join in on your virtual meetings! These fun meetings aren’t limited to the office, the animals can make an appearance at your happy hour, birthday, or classroom, too! What happens on a call? We will join the call, do a quick intro of the sanctuary, and introduce you to the animals on your virtual tour. You can ask us questions or just hang out!

Our animals need more than just a safe place to live. They need food, water, and sometimes significant veterinary care. We want all of them to live long and happy lives so we care for them in the best way possible. Each animal has his or her own unique needs. You can help provide a month, year, or lifetime of support by sponsoring an animal. Gifts can be made monthly, annually, or in a single gift to support our friends for the rest of their time with us. Set up a sponsorship here.
Our Circle of Compassion is made up of a group of special friends who support the organization annually with operating gifts of $1,000-$100,000.
