Vegan Farm Animal Sanctuary

About Us

Lancaster Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit farm animal sanctuary.

Our mission is rescuing farmed animals and providing them sanctuary; inspiring humans to live with compassion and respect.
Sarah Salluzzo and Jonina Turzi founded Lancaster Farm Sanctuary in July 2017. Sarah and Jonina are motivated by their love for animals, humans and the environment and founded the sanctuary in an effort to provide compassionate connections between humans and the lovely beings typically viewed as mere commodities.

Lancaster Farm Sanctuary is currently home to rescued cows, horses, pigs, chickens, alpacas, goats, ducks, sheep and turkeys. Please consider a donation to help Lancaster Farm Sanctuary further their work.
Our core values are ethical guidelines we use to drive all decisions:

  • Love
  • Protect
  • Respect
  • Volunteer

Hands On Helping

Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering! Running an animal sanctuary is a big job that takes a lot of people and time. We rely on our volunteers to make it happen. Volunteering at the sanctuary involves a lot of cleaning, feeding the animal residents and checking up on everyone to make sure they’re happy and healthy.

Each shift could take up to two hours and, it is a physical job. Taking care of the animal residents and building relationships with them is such a joy. We hope you can join us and help further our mission here in Lancaster County. Please fill out the form below to contact our volunteer coordinator for more information and a copy of our volunteer form and waiver.

We Moved!

New Home For LFS

We are so excited to announce Lancaster Farm Sanctuary has moved to a much-needed bigger farm as of June 2020! Although the new location is only two miles away from our previous home in Elizabethtown, the new property has almost five times the pasture space. This larger farm provides more land for the rescued animals to eat, sleep, graze, and congregate. It is allowing us to rescue many more abused and neglected farmed animals and be of better service to area police, Lancaster County residents, and Good Samaritans who find farm animals in “life or death” situations.

To get this new space ready, we must build shelters, including a new barn, for our rescued residents! We must also construct fencing to keep them safe. These projects cost a total of $120,000. We recently launched a capital campaign to cover these costs and we are so thrilled to announce we reached our goal! Thank you so everyone who donated and sponsored this project. The barn is now complete and the animals LOVE it!

When/Where/How

We love having visitors at the sanctuary! Which is why we have regularly scheduled tours, events, and yoga during the warmer months. We absolutely love and cherish the engagement we get with our community and friends during the tours and events. It fills our heart with joy to see that spark in a new visitor when they meet and form a special connection with the animal residents.

We aim to create as many tours and events as possible to cultivate this relationship in a way that both honors the residents and engages the public. Please continue to check our website and Facebook about updates for future tours and events.

Lancaster Farm Sanctuary also loves giving private tours. If you are interested in a private tour, please fill out the form below and someone will get back to your promptly.

The sanctuary DOES NOT have regular open visiting hours out of respect for the animal residents here. WE DO NOT ACCEPT DROP-IN VISITORS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Directions:
  • Lancaster Farm Sanctuary is set back from Milton Grove Road.
You must turn on the driveway from the Milton Grove Road entrance (never use the Risser Mill entrance please, as this is our neighbor’s private property).
  • When you first turn on our driveway from Milton Grove Rd, you briefly pass through someone else’s property. (They have placed a stop sign to encourage slow traffic through that area-please observe.)
  • You will then take a SHARP right turn (at the first right), follow the arrow sign pointing the way to Lancaster Farm Sanctuary. You will see the big barn and rainbow flag and know you’re in the right spot.
  • Please look out for chickens that live at our neighbor’s property that sometimes walk in the driveway.

Your donation helps us fund special projects and expansion efforts like preparing the property to take in more animals and improving the grounds and barn for our existing residents. Monthly donations help us to plan successful operations by providing fixed resources for things like food, bedding, veterinary expenses and basic property maintenance.
