Vegan Farm Sanctuary in Spain

SANCTUARY

Gaia Sanctuary Foundation is a vegan rescue and recovery center for animals considered livestock, livestock victims of exploitation, abuse or neglect. Where they receive the necessary care to have a dignified life for the rest of their lives. Located in Camprodon (Girona) in the Pyrenees, surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains. The tranquility of the place is ideal for non-human animals that arrive here, most in poor condition, have a speedy recovery and live in peace and harmony

OUR MISSION

Gaia sanctuary was founded in October 2012 by Ismael Lopez and Fernandez Coque to save animals who need help, and thereby promote veganism.

Our first mission is to save lives, and once they are safe, meet their needs for food, veterinary care and emotional. Provide suitable facilities for each individual, that gives them security, but at the same time allowing them to have as natural a life as possible.

VEGANISM

Veganism is the attitude of respect toward other animals:

  • A vegan diet.
  • Clothing and footwear free of materials of animal origin.
  • Not attend shows in which animals are used.
  • Do not use products that have been tested on animals.

VISITS CANCELED

Our mission is to save animals who are exploited, neglected or abused, so many of them require special attention.

Because of the large number of cases that come to us, now in the Sanctuary there are more than 400 animals. The workload is so great, and because the infrastructure and means are not adequate for safe visits, for now we can not perform until we have the facilities equipped for this purpose.

We are aware of the great interest you have in coming to know the inhabitants of the sanctuary, so every day we put on social networking news of everything that happens in the Shrine current. you have to understand that our mission and first concern is to save the animals.

The program

Fundación Santuario Gaia is located 10 km from Camprodon (Girona), a small town in the Catalan Pyrenees, in an environment surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains.

We offer the possibility of living day to day in a Sanctuary for farm animals. Living with animals that have been rescued from exploitation and knowing first-hand how they interact with each other, observing the bonds of friendship that they establish between different species, and the capacity for recovery they have after having suffered a life of slavery.

The work is done inside the center. Volunteering is 6 days a week with 1 day of rest and flexible hours, depending on the volume of work, arrival of new animals or care of the sick. It is an outdoor job, so you have to be willing to work in inclement weather, to get dirty, get up early, in short, get involved with the animals. It is an intense and hard volunteering, but very comforting and positive.

It works with different species: sheep, goats, cows, bulls, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigeons, dogs and cats. Each one with its character, with its adaptation process, with which it is necessary to know how to respect each individual to avoid unnecessary stress.

Safety rules will be learned that must be strictly followed, this is VERY IMPORTANT, the person who participates in the course must know how to work as a team, accept orders and carry them out.
