Couples Counseling

Being in a relationship is both wonderful and challenging. When conflict inevitably arises, we, at times, struggle to know what to do.

Counseling can help if you are hoping to address some long standing relationship issues. You may even fear a break up or divorce if nothing changes soon. Patterns that have developed in your relationship in the past may be harmful to your future together.

Couples/relationship therapy can also be useful not just as a “last ditch effort”, but also as a way to build a strong foundation together for the future. You may be seeking pre-marital counseling, considering moving in together, or have some uncertainty about your relationship. Perhaps you want to avoid repeating the relationship patterns of your parents. This is a common goal, as many have witnessed their parents’ divorce and want to avoid going through this themselves.

People seek out couples counseling for a variety of reasons. Whatever your reasons are, when we sit down together in therapy, I will help you and your partner(s) to get to the root of your concerns so that we can adequately address them.

I enjoy helping couples connect on a deeper level and understand each other in ways they struggled to do on their own. Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman approach guide my work with couples. As a sex therapist, I am also able to help with concerns related to sex that commonly go unaddressed in couples counseling.

I offer couples sessions online throughout Florida.

Sex Therapy

Whatever you are going through, there’s hope! Seeking treatment from a sex therapist is the place to start, and as a Certified Sex Therapist, I can provide you with the help you need. I often hear from clients that talking about their sexual concerns in sex therapy is such a relief. This is a result of being able to freely discussing their concerns and have a better uderstanding of what’s going on. They also experience increased motivation and hope after creating a plan to move towards their goals.

There are so many expectations and so much stigma surrounding the topic of sex. Most people are surprised how quickly they benefit from counseling, because sex therapy tends to be more solution-focused and short term than traditional counseling.

You may be wondering, “What exactly is sex therapy?” There can be a lot of misconceptions about this. Sex therapy is counseling with a focus on sex related issues. There is no physical contact between you and the therapist. Similarly to mental health counseling, we begin with an intake assessment where we discuss your sexual background to better understand what’s bringing you to sex therapy. We then create goals you’d like to work towards and identify what you’d like to get out of counseling.

I am trained to address the following:

  • Genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder (vaginismus)
  • Compulsive sexual behavior
  • Intimacy
  • Infidelity
  • Open relationships/non-monogamy
  • Sexual abuse/trauma
  • Paraphilias
  • Sex anxiety
  • Communication problems
  • Partner mismatched sex drives
  • Sexual dysfunction (erectyle dysfunction, low sex drive/libido)
  • Gender identity
